Department of Chemistry

Welcome to the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University. Our central focus is teaching undergraduate and graduate students. Chemistry department is equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities in which our faculty members conduct cutting-edge researches ranging from traditional area of chemistry and biochemistry to interdiciplinary and translational. We are fortunate to count Thailand outstanding scientist, Thailand Young Scientist Awards and many other international award recipients among our faculty.

Vision

Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University aims to be recognized at both national and international levels for its excellence in teaching and research in chemical and biochemical science and technology and for the provision of high quality academic services to society as a whole as it moves towards a sufficiency economy.

Mission

To produce graduates with the requisite all around knowledge and capability to build successful professional careers for themselves, not only in chemistry but also in other fields.
To produce graduates with the capability to continue their further higher education and with an aptitude for research
To produce high quality research outcome and cuttingedge innovation.

History

Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science was established together with the founding of Chiang Mai University in 1964 as one of the inaugural five departments. We are focusing on four main tasks including teaching, research, academic services for the community, and cultural nourishment as well as natural resources and environmental conservation. Our mission is to produce high-quality graduates in chemical science, biochemical technology, and related multidisciplines that are consistent with local and national needs.
